The team was excited when they added the Longmont location. Just 33 miles north-northwest of Denver and about 20 miles from Boulder, it’s a family-oriented town that’s on the rise, with companies like Micron Technology, Seagate, DigitalGlobe, Xilinx and others. It has famous and prestigious schools, such as the Colorado School of Mines and Colorado State University. It’s a fun town, too, home of the Union Reservoir, with fishing and activities for boaters, kayakers, campers, and stand-up paddle boarders. Oskar Blues Brewery has its headquarters in Longmont. There are many breweries in the area, like Wibby Brewing, Left Hand Brewery and quite a few more. You can wet your whistle at the Tasty Weasel Tap Room and there are plenty of excellent restaurants, including unexpected and unusual finds like Rosario's Peruvian Restaurant on Ken Pratt Blvd.
Fun facts: The name "Longmont" derives from Longs Peak, the mountain named after the explorer Major Stephen H. Long. In 1870, a group of movers and shakers in Chicago founded the "Chicago-Colorado Colony," now known as Longmont. Memberships could be purchased and the proceeds were used to acquire 60,000 choice acres of northern Colorado that would be home to the town and farms. Everything, including the people, were brought in by the group of men who started the little colony that was laid out on the rich land. In short order, the dream became reality with the new little town that had become known as "Longmont," in honor of "Longs Peak," the mountain formation that decorated their vistas.
