One additional reason to keep up with routine annual visits is the extreme importance of eye health. Using a light pen, Dr. Funk assesses the overall function of a patient’s eye. It is critical to visit the vet if your pet is having issues with their eyes to prevent much more severe consequences if left untreated, such as blindness.

Dr. Funk welcomes this precious Shih Tzu to her annual visit. Dr. Funk, as well as Dr. Fuentes, stress the utmost importance of regular visits to the veterinary hospital. These committed veterinarians share a common passion to keep pets happy and healthy.

Dr. Funk works with a friendly veterinary technician to check this Shih Tzu’s blood pressure. Irregular blood pressure can cause a variety of complications and be a sign of disease such as diabetes. Knowing the symptoms of diabetes can be the initial step in preventative care. If your companion has a change in appetite, weight loss, excessive thirst, or is prone to urinary tract infections, do not hesitate to visit the veterinarian!

Of course, that yummy dinner you’re eating is bound to make your favorite companion drool and flash you angelic, begging eyes, however, an unhealthy weight means an unhealthy pet.
